The Herbal Healing Perspective - Figs

    Friday, October 10, 2008, 03:35 PM [General]

    The Herbal Healing Perspective

No great thing is created suddenly, any more than a bunch of grapes or a fig.  If you tell me that you desire a fig, I answer that there must be time.  Let it first blossom, then bear fruit, then ripen. ~Epictetus (c. 50 - 120)

Every now and again I get glimpses of my Granny’s kitchen window.  Her kitchen was red and white – red cherries on the curtains – I think.  It was a small kitchen but always full of warmth and light, maybe because so much love came out of that tiny little room.

If you looked out of her window you were privy to an enchanted world, where dragonflies and fairies played among the leaves of an enormous fig tree.  She was such a captivating woman that as children - her word was above any god.  And she said that figs were fairy candy.  So be it.  We ate more figs than our stomach could handle.  Those were the sweetest fruit!

Now I have a fig tree in my side yard….and ya’ know the dragonflies and fairies really do dance on the leaves…..

Wise Woman Tradition - The Goddess is Alive in Every Woman

    Tuesday, October 7, 2008, 06:57 PM [General]

    Wise Woman Tradition

The Goddess is Alive in Every Woman
The True Story of How She Came to Be, How She Disappeared, & How She Returned

In the beginning, everything began, as it always does, with birth. The Great Mother of All gave birth, and the Earth began to breathe. Again, and again, and again, the Great Mother gave birth. And the plants began to breathe and the animals began to breathe and the two-legged ones began to breathe. All forms of life began to breathe. To breathe, to live. In the air, on the land, in the water, and even in the fires of deep sulfurous vents where light never shines, all forms of life began to breathe. And they were all very hungry.
“What shall we eat?” they asked the Great Mother. “You eat me,” she said with a smile. And they did. They ate of Her body. The plants sent their roots down into the earth and they ate of Her flesh and Her bones. The plants drank Her clear blood. From her deep springs, from her flowing waters, the plants ate. And they grew strong. And they gave birth. The grasses multiplied and rippled in the wind. Roots grew fat and juicy. And everywhere there were amazingly-shaped leaves, and flowers of many colors, and fruits wondrous to behold.

    Interview with CELIA FARRAN

    Tuesday, October 7, 2008, 06:54 PM [General]

This month we feature an interview with the one and only Celia Farran.  We were blessed!!  We also have an album review on the page with songs you can listen to.  If you just want a quick listen, come to our myspace page we are featuring some of her songs as well.

    Interview with CELIA FARRAN

Hi Celia, thanks for taking the time to visit with me today.  First let me say that I adore your music and so many of your songs move me in ways that I simple can’t explain and for even more reasons they really touch my soul.  I am thrilled to be introducing you to our readers this month as our featured artist in our Music Review section making its debut in this Samhain issue.   So if you’re ready lets get started.

PaganPages (PP): I know you just completed a show in Milwaukee, WI, which I understand was fantastic.  Are you from the area as I hear you frequent the city quiet often?

Celia: Yes, I am from the area.  I was born in Hartland, WI and raised in Big Bend, WI which is very close to Milwaukee.  I try to get back as often as I can.

PP: When did you know you wanted to be a singer/songwriter? And then get involved in performance arts as well.  I understand you were in the Off-Broadway premiere of Connor Macpherson’s “Rum and Vodka.”

Celia: Hmmmmm….I knew from an early age that I wanted to be on the stage.

PaganGoodieBags For Your Events, Parties, Etc...

    Monday, October 6, 2008, 04:25 PM [General]

    What are PaganGoodieBags?

PaganGoodieBags are baggies full of coupons, offers, & samples from a group of Pagan Owned businesses we have come to know and trust through PaganPages.org.

We have gotten to know all the owners in the group & have even ordered, ourselves, from some of the shops.  We trust in them so much we would like to share them with our fellow brothers & sisters to help them find good quality, trustworthy, pagan owned businesses, with decent prices, they can shop from.

The bags started to help spread the word of the businesses.  For pagans to receive free coupons, samples, & stickers that they can only get through us.  I hand fill every bag to order with the items the shops involved send me.  When we get big orders, I send out word in our group of the event, the amount, and the due date.  They ship me all the goods & sometimes chip in to purchase the bags and labels needed.  For smaller, individual bags, I usually have some shop stock in the office.

For the past year we have gotten bags out to many individuals, covens, meetings, & many Pagan Pride Days.  We love being able to spread the word, love, and freebies!  Everyone loves getting something, and we love making people smile.

I receive no payment from this.  I do not get any discounts shopping in the shops, money, or any form of compensation.  I do this to help the pagan community & pagan business owners.

The bags are free, however, we do ask for the shipping to be donated.  For individual bags we ask to have three stamps mailed to our office.

    The Path of a Priestess

    Monday, October 6, 2008, 04:18 PM [General]

    The Path of a Priestess

Do you find spirituality to be a fleeting feeling?  Feeling spiritual mainly in times of need?  Feeling spiritual when you feel it is the proper time to?  How about when you want or need something?  Or when someone else you feel is spiritual is around?  And, let’s not forget on holidays!

Spirituality is an important part of life and should be felt on a daily basis.  It improves mental and physical health brings us through the bad moments in life and, also, helps us to see and appreciate the good.  Picture it as day or night.  They are beautiful but how much more beautiful are they with the sun’s rays or the moon’s beams caressing your skin & lighting your way.  Spirituality is akin to the sun’s kiss or the moon’s blessings.   A feeling grander with more benefits than any other.

So how do we get out of a spiritual slump or just bring more into our daily lives?
