Reiki Healing

Reiki Introduction

Blessings and Welcome to my Reiki Column. I am Ariana Firedragon and I have been a Reiki Master since August of 2006. In this article I will be covering the basics of Reiki. In the articles to follow, I will cover the history of Reiki, the Reiki Principles, multiple uses of Reiki and Reiki Symbols. Please email me if you have questions. Enjoy!

The word Reiki means Universal Life Force Energy and the Universal Spirit. We are all born with Universal Life Force Energy in us. The healing occurs when a Reiki practitioner, places their hands on various parts of the subject’s body. This is a non sexual, non intrusive technique which allows the practitioner to channel energy from the Universal Life Force through themselves and into the subject receiving the treatments. The amount of energy drawn is based on the needs of the person receiving it. Reiki can be used in many ways, including on one-self, pets, plants, food, and with symbols. This energy will travel through any material (including clothing) and across distances. Reiki aids in balancing the being as a whole. Spiritual, mental, physical and emotional healing will be achieved using Reiki treatments.

Reiki is a healing method discovered in Japan by Dr Mikao Usui in the mid 1800’s. Reiki is based on ancient Buddhist teachings written in Sanskrit. Dr. Usui spent the remainder of his life practicing and teaching this form of healing.
